Greenways are rapidly becoming an important urban revitalization program throughout the region. Increasingly, communities are coming together and developing greenways that link communities together through a common green thread. Taken together, they constitute a true vision for greenways for southeast Michigan.
Individually, a number of multi-jurisdictional greenways projects have developed over the past few years. They follow watercourses; they link communities and cultural resources; they create recreational opportunities; and they provide a framework for communities to collaborate and work together to improve the region's quality of life.
The following is a list of multi-jurisdictional southeast Michigan greenways projects that have received support through the GreenWays Initiative.
