The
fundamental goal of the GreenWays Initiative is to demonstrate
the importance and benefits of building and increasing greenways
throughout southeast Michigan. The GreenWays Initiative resources
pages were created to assist in this educational process. We
will add more resources over time, so check back often. If you
have a suggestion of a resource you would like to see added
to this site, e-mail Sue Weckerle at sweckerle@cfsem.org.

GreenWays
Initiative: Planning for Detroit's Rail-Trails (PDF Document)
This study, compiled by the Rails-to-Trails Conservancy,
inventories and maps all rail corridors abandoned in the greater-Detroit
region between 1962 and mid-2002 to assess their potential
for development as recreational trails, non-motorized transportation
connectors or other public uses.
GreenWays
Initiative Interactive Mapping Web Site
Created through a grant to the Land Information Access Association,
this Interactive Mapping Web site is designed to showcase
greenways potential in southeast Michigan as well as identify
the GreenWays Initiative grant projects and other important
community resources.
Visitors to the site are able to create and manipulate maps
illustrating the connections between the region's greenways,
resources, and communities.
